We are probably unique as of writing, in that we will not under any circumstances compromise the fantastic quality offered by HD technology. So we present our films in a format that massively out performs most of the current internet competition.
We currently offer our HD films in DivX 6.5 1280 x 720p optimized for HD at a running bit rate of 5,000 KB/s. What does that mean in real terms. Well put simply if you watch one of our movies on a large 42" high definition TV set you'll get the same amazing quality comparable with Sky HD (satellite Mpeg HD video), HD-DVD or Blue Ray HD.
We use DivX because it offers the best compression rates available for HD, This means that while the files sizes are still very large they are small compared to other HD formats, an added bonus is that it makes true HD video that can be played on less powerful computers than other types of HD. A PC with a minimum Spec of 2.4 Ghz processor and Minimum 128 Mb graphic card is still required.

These are actual full size screen captures from the high definition movie.
They are not digital still camera pictures although you'd be forgiven for thinking they are.

Most internet companies offer HD video that is so compromised in quality that it makes the whole concept of HD void. !) True HD video is far too large to stream (E.G. watch online) many companies use bit rates of 2,000 KB/s Not the 5,000 KB/s we use. This results in very soft hazy video that actually looks worse than standard definition video. Don't take our word for it. Download our High Def trailers and compare them with other sites. There is no comparison. Other companies use 2000 KB/s for download movies because it is faster to download, and it costs a lot less to supply the video from the web server.
Why not use 1920 x 1080i HD: We will adopt this size of video in the future, possibly even offer both formats per film. However since many of our users will want to view our films on their home PC's; and only the very latest PC's at the top end of the price bracket and custom built machines are capable of playing 1920 x 1080i HD. Additionally most HD TV sets currently in use are around 1280 x 720 pixels anyway.
It has been established that most people cannot tell the difference in picture quality between these 2 formats on screens up to 42 inch. In fact many of the films you may watch on your HD satellite set up are rendered at 1280 x 720p because of it's film like qualities. Because 1080i video is interlaced you actually only see half the number of lines on screen at one time (540 lines albeit too fast to notice). 720p (P means progressive) you get 720 lines at once. This is a very stable platform for fast action.
Finally we appreciate that having large files for HD movies typically around 4.2 gigabytes for a 2 hour movie means it takes a lot longer to download the films. We made a judgment call on this one, and decided that since you get to keep the movie forever, you would most likely want us to provide you with the best quality HD video possible.
